Promoting Youth Entrepreneurship: The Role of Mentoring
Critical Evaluation:
This scholarly article was published in The Institute of Development Studies: Transforming Development Knowledge Bulletin in May 2017 by Dr. Ayodele Ibrahim Shittu, a professor at the University of Lagos. Within his review of literature, Dr. Shittu focuses on formal and informal mentoring relationships, their benefits, and the risk and reward associated with entrepreneurs. This resource, I believe is readable by the average individual, it is challenging to gain accessibility to as well as possibly follow along with some of the charts and graphs included. Overall, this article is supported by similar articles. It suggests that any form of mentor relationship is beneficial, especially informal as they provide a better sense of trust and security. Additionally, young people involved with programs of entrepreneurship are more likely to crave a mentor relationship to assist them with completing and coexisting with their business venture motivation.
